North Coast, Achill & Connemara Guided Motorcycle Tour in Ireland
Day 1: Is an easy day, in the morning you will collect your motorbike and then we will take an easy ride back to Belfast to let you get familiar with it. After checking into your Hotel in the centre of Belfast and parking your motorbike we can offer you a guided tour of the City by open topped double decker bus. Take in some of the sights that have made the City famous across the World over the past forty years. See some of the Cities past glories, stand beside the dry dock where the Titanic was built. Enjoy a pint in the famous Crown Bar and hear the story behind its name.

Day 2: Approx 140 miles we set off around 10am. After a good Irish Breakfast we will ride down the Ards Peninsula to the picturesque town of Portaferry from where we take the short ferry ride to Strangford. Hugging the coast line we make our way to the Holiday Resort of Newcastle and from here we will enter the “Kingdom of Mourne“. An area of outstanding natural beauty. Returning to Belfast via the town of Downpatrick the burial place of St Patrick patron saint of Ireland. This evening is free to enjoy at your own leisure

Day 3: We will be riding the Antrim Coast Road today, described as one off the best drives in the World and a must for Bikers. Normally we will set off around 10am but during July & August we will have to be on the road a bit earlier to avoid the large numbers’ of tourists that tend to clog the road from mid morning. Low mileage but a busy day. Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge to cross if you have a head for heights. The world famous Giant’s Causeway to see. Bushmills Distillery the oldest whiskey distillery in the world, take it easy on the samples. We won’t have time to do all of them but weather permitting we will try. Travelling along the coast we will pass the towns of Portrush and Portstewart whose streets form part of the North West Road Racing course in May. Time permitting we shall return to Belfast by the Glenshane Pass and hope to be back at our Hotel around 6pm for a well deserved rest and a free evening to yourself to do as you please.

Day 4: As we have to ride over 200 miles today we will use the motorway this morning to speed us on our way, thankfully its only 40 miles. Heading west we will be doing a circuit of Lower Lough Erne in Co, Fermanagh hopefully visiting Devinish Island, an early Monistic site dating back to the 6th century. At the top of the Lough we will cross Boa Island which is home to the oldest stone figures in Ireland, experts still aren’t sure yet if they are early Christian or pre Christian. Moving on from the Island town of Enniskillen we ride south past Lough Allen and on to Carrick on Shannon where we turn west to Co. Mayo and Lough Conn and our Hotel for the next three nights.

Day 5: Today we plan a tour of County Mayo and Achill Island a distance of approx 140 miles. Achill is the largest Island in Ireland with some fantastic scenery and quiet roads. For any keen fishermen or women among the group, you have the opportunity of enjoying some of the best fishing in Europe around our Hotel. All equipment and boat hire can be arranged with prior notice, as indeed for anyone interested in a round or two of golf, just bring your own shoes.

Day 6: Connemara, wild, barren and beautiful, our mileage today will be approx 140miles , your cameras will do more work today than the bikes. Our days ride will take us through Mountain Ranges and along the Atlantic Coast. In the afternoon we will visit the town of Cong on Lough Corrib. For those of you of a certain age, its where the film the “Quiet Man” was filmed starring John Wayne & Maureen O`Hara. It’s also home to Ashford Castle which has hosted numerous celebrity weddings. Hopefully we will have time for a pint in the famous pub before we head back to our hotel.

Day 7: Our last day together and we have 200 miles to ride before dropping off the motorbikes and then checking into our hotel in Belfast. Riding north we will stop in Donegal town maybe for an early lunch and a short visit before we cross the Barnsmore Gap and onto Strabane where we will cross back into Northern Ireland, (passports not required), and ride home across the Sperrin Mountains.

It’s our last night together and hopefully if we have done our job you will have had a great trip and made lots of new friends. Time for all those hugs and kisses or just a firm handshake and a parting drink or two.
